Peer Review Process
Every single contribution submitted to TransNav, the International Journal on Marine Navigation and Safety of Sea Transportation will be sent to, at least, two reviewers, though usually could be sent to three or more independent reviewers, selected by the editor and sometimes by more if further advice is required (e.g., on statistics or on a particular technique).
The primary purpose of the review is to provide the editor with the information necessary to make a decision. The review should also instruct the authors on how to strengthen their paper up to the point where it should be acceptable. A negative review should explain to the authors the weaknesses of their manuscript, so that rejected authors are able to understand the basis for the decision and see, in broad terms, what needs to be done to improve the manuscript in order to be published anywhere.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Author Guidelines
Manuscripts should be in English and contain the title, the name and full address of the authors, an abstract, the main text including, maybe, one or more appendices, and the list of references. No formal limit is set for the length of a paper, but if it is very long the editors may recommend dividing its text into two or more separate papers.
The abstract should be concise and carefully worded description of the problem addressed, the key ideas introduced, and the results.
References should be listed in alphabetical order, and in the text should be denoted by numbers in square brackets, e.g. [25].
Formulae should be prepared using the following style: variables – italic type; constants and special symbols – roman text type; matrices and vectors – boldface type.
Tables must be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals and have titles. The use of vertical lines in tables is discouraged.
Figures can be prepared on a computer and laser-printed. Otherwise, they must be photographically reproducible: sharp, noise–free and good contrast.
